Weekend before last we had lots of family fun. We began the weekend by visiting Me Maw in TN. We concluded the day by celebrating my sisters 25th birthday at Phil Sandoval's. We had a bit of a wait (which was SOOO worth it... YUMMY!!) so we passed the time by taking pictures.

Saturday Aunt May May took Miller to visit her boyfriend's family at their farm. Let's just say Miller had more fun than he could stand. He was fast asleep when she brought him home.

I will wrap this post up with a couple random pictures.

2 Months and visting with a Great

Miss Katherine turned two months old on the 18th. It is just going by too quickly!! We spent the day visiting my grandmother, Katherine's great grandmother in Tennessee. Me-maw would NOT LET HER GO!! She was smitten...

After a long day of traveling and visiting we celebrated my middle sisters 25th birthday at a local Mexican Restaurant. It is always fun when the whole family can get together!!

The Greatest Show on Earth

Sunday Evening we took Miller to the Circus. It was the first time any of us had been. We had a great time with Addie and Nick while my parents kept Katherine.

Miller LOVES to wear a hat just like Daddy. We have had several nice days and have been spending as much time outside as we can. I snapped some fun pictures of Miller playing outside sporting his favorite hat.

One Month

Friday, Katherine turned one Month old.

We went to the doctor on Feb 9th (3 weeks old) and she weighed in at 7lbs, 4 oz, and 19 1/2 inches long. I primitively weighed her on Friday and she weighed 8lbs 6oz. 3 ounces more then Miller was at Birth!! She is still tiny but growing fast!

She is SUCH a SWEET baby and Miller still LOVES her SO MUCH!! She still eats and sleeps really well. She will sleep anywhere from 6 to 8 hours at a time at night and is more alert during the day. Here are some pictures to prove her sweetness..... and Miller's LOVE!!

First Snow and Valentine's

Katherine (3 weeks old) experienced her first snow on Feb 10th. We woke up to about 2 inches of snow and LOTS of ice. As usual the town shut down but that did not stop Luke from getting out and meeting a customer about a job. By the time Luke got home so we could play in the snow as a family a good bit of the snow and most of the ice was gone.

All Miller wanted to do was eat the snow. He could have stayed outside all day.

Friday Miller's class celebrated Valentine's Day with pizza and cupcakes and exchanged goodies. Miller could not wait to open his bag!!

Friday evening Miller got into the chocolate and Katherine received her first bottle in prep for Luke and I to have a date night to celebrate Valentine's Day and our 7th Wedding Anniversary.

Of course Miller had to help!

Saturday evening Luke and I celebrated with dinner out while my parents watched Miller and Katherine. Before we left my parents took our first family photo. It is sad that it took over 3 weeks!!

Double Digits

Katherine turned 10 days old yesterday. We had a weight check up and she weighed 6lbs 4oz. She was 5lbs 12ozs when we left the hospital last week. In the past week she has gained the 8oz she lost after birth. Her Doctor was very impressed how well she is doing. She truly is a blessing and the best baby ever. She rarely cries or fusses and sleeps like a champ. I am praying she continues this trend.

Week One

It is hard to believe that Katherine is a week old. She was scheduled to arrive this morning, Wednesday, January 26th. I am a HUGE planner so it still does not seem real that she is here. We are adjusting better than I ever expected. Katherine is a GREAT baby. I have to wake her every 3 hours during the day to nurse and she sleeps around 5-6 hours between feedings at night...I don't believe in waking a sleeping baby at night!! This tired momma feels blessed to be caught up on sleep. Sleep was something that we did not get much of in the hospital. We got 2 hours of sleep on Monday night, 6 hours on Tuesday night, and 4 hours on Wednesday night. I feel like a new women now that we are home and she is sleeping so well.

Miller LOVES his sister. He is SO sweet and has not shown any jealousy. I am sure we will have times but so far he loves her so much and is very protective of her.

Miller loves his sister SO much that he shared his blanket with her. If you know Miller and his love for airplane aka blanket then you know this is TRUE LOVE!!

The only time Katherine has really gotten upset was during her first bath at home. Miller teared up seeing her so upset. We had to reassure him that she did not like her bath and that we were not hurting her.

We were released from the Hospital on Luke's 35th birthday. So Luke did not feel left out even though he was as excited as I was to be home in our own bed we had a impromptu birthday dinner party with my family.

He said this was his BEST birthday present EVER!!

Aunt May May came and visited us for the weekend and helped out tremendously with Miller and Katherine.

Miller kept us entertained all weekend as you can see.

I took a picture of Miller every month in the same spot to document his growth. I started Miss Katherine's pictures today. Here she is as a newborn. It shows how tiny she is.

Katherine Chase surprised us all with an early arrival this week after my water broke around Midnight on Jan 18th. She was born via c-section at 8:15 am. We can't be more trilled. She is SUCH a sweet baby and the transition has been very easy so far. Miller LOVES his baby sister and has to be watched closely because he can love her a little to roughly. My recovery this time around has been a lot easier and our family has gone above and beyond helping us with Miller, the house, and just about anything that we need. Here are some pictures from the Hospital...

Blizzard 2011

This is what we woke up to on Monday Morning....

This little guy COULD NOT WAIT to play in the snow and make a snow man. The snow was VERY dry so we had trouble packing it. We decided to make our snowman laying down....sunbathing!

Luke was itching to get out and about, so off to my parents we went. Everything was SO beautiful covered in a thick blanket of white. Of course the city was pretty much closed down on Monday and Tuesday, and our city schools were closed Mon, Tues, and Wed. Other schools in the area were out all week!

We spent the entire day Monday and Tuesday at my parents. We were able to make a proper snow man and have fun with the neighborhood kids.

On Tuesday, my Sister, my Mom, and Luke worked over 6 hours off and on to make a igloo. Watch it take shape....

Does anyone else think he looks a bit like Mike Holmes (Holmes on Homes) ?

We have had SO much fun playing in the snow and spending time with family. We are slowly starting to get back to reality. It is surreal to drive around and see so much snow still on the ground. Unfortunately the temps are rising so the snow will be gone soon.

On another note we have 12 days left until we become a family of 4!! Talk about time flies when you are having fun!! I went to the doctor this morning and everything looks great. I have only dilated a half a fingertip, or less than a centimeter, so we are not worried this little one will try to come on her own.... but you never know. The doctor is also predicting she will be BIGGER then Miller because I am ALL baby. I have gained a minimum amount of weight but measure 41 weeks (I am only 37 weeks, 2 days)!! Miller was 8 lbs, 3 oz so I am anxious to see just how big she will be considering she will be born 6 days earlier than Miller was. I guess Luke's genes are very dominate! Until then let the countdown begin....

Merry White Christmas!!

This year we were blessed with a WHITE CHRISTMAS!! The weather men in our area predicted a light dusting so we honestly did not expect to receive anything. We were pleasantly surprised to wake up to several inches!! The best part is it stayed for several days.

We began the morning by opening gifts...

Miller's three gifts (three because the wise men brought Jesus three gifts) were his own chair, books, and rain boots. He also received some small cars and a tractor in his stocking. We steered away from "toys" since we knew the extended family would be overloading our house with new toys....definatly something we will have to keep in mind for future Christmases!!

Then it was outside to play in the snow....

Then my family came over and we decorated cupcakes for Jesus...

After a good nap it was outside again to build a snow man. A good bit of our snow had melted but we still had plenty left to make a Miller sized man. It began snowing while we were outside and continued to off and on through Sunday.

Miller could have stayed outside all day. The Snow and spending time with family defiantly made the day unforgettable!! I hope you and your family had a

Christmas Eve!

Christmas Eve morning Boppet (our elf on the shelf) visited us one last time. He was found on top of the nativity to remind us that Christmas is about celebrating Jesus's birthday and the gift of salvation that he gives each person who believes.

Miller and I had a busy day around the house catching up on laundry and doing some last minute cleaning and prep for Christmas while Luke cut firewood. After a good long nap my family joined us at our church for a Christmas Eve service. During the service the children were asked to join our Pastor on the stage for story time. Miller surprised us all by joining all the boys and girls at the front. He is very shy in large groups so we were impressed that he willingly walked to the front and then walked back to us without a peep.

The end of the service was done by candle light and Miller held Aunt Addie's candle and sang Silent Night.

After the service we headed over to my parents for a night of food, fun, and gifts.

Katherine got lots of gifts too...

It is hard to believe we have less than a month till she will be wearing this cute sleeper. Of course it will be a while before she will be able to fit these Carhartt overall's.

Being Silly...

Luke's parents came up for a couple days. We had a HUGE Christmas dinner with my parents. I brined and roasted my first turkey. It was SOOO good. Defiantly the way to cook a turkey. Here and Here are the recipes I used.

Luke started carving the turkey before I had a chance to take a picture of the finished product but trust me it was BEAUTIFUL!!

Miller was showered with gifts from Luke's family. His favorites are his new firetruck and tractor.

Baby Girl has a name

Baby Girl FINALLY has a name!! We have actually had a name picked out for the last couple of weeks but I have been SO busy with Christmas that I have not had a chance to "Formally announce" it to my tens of readers.

Katherine Chase Langford

It is becoming more and more real that we will be welcoming a baby GIRL into our family in less then 6 weeks!! We have scheduled her arrival for January 26th at 8 am. Of course things can change but for countdown purposes we are sticking to January 26th!

Busy week!!

This has been a busy Christmas celebrating week! We began the week by visiting Botanical Gardens with my parents and sisters on Monday evening. It was COLD unlike last year, so no open windows for us. It actually snowed all day Sunday, Monday, part of the day on Tuesday, and school was canceled on Wednesday due to "icy" conditions. CRAZY Alabama weather!! We sure hope for some accumulation this year but so far just flurries.

Like last year Miller LOVED the lights, or maybe it was the fact that he got to set in Luke's lap and not in his car seat? Either way we had a great time.

Tuesday we went and had Miller's picture made with Santa. Unlike the previous 2 years. Miller did not cry and actually visited with Santa. I was VERY relieved to not have to have my picture made with Santa again this year.

Wednesday evening Miller's Wee Praise class wrapped up the year with a Christmas Program. His entire class just stood there. Only one child had a complete come apart and I was just glad it wasn't Miller.

Thursday, Miller and I made gifts for his teachers. I appliqued some cute dish towels and made some homemade thin mints. I stole the idea from a blog I stalk from time to time (don't judge....we ALL do it!!). They were SUPER yummy and easy!

Friday, Miller's class wrapped up the busy week with a class party. They enjoyed pizza and cupcakes and then we headed down to the music room so the parents could see what the kids do each week. Miller usually participates more but he was very shy and barely participated. Again, at least he did not have a melt down.

What a fun week!! Next week will hold even MORE fun activities.

November wrap up and jumping into December

The Month of November wrapped up with Thanksgiving activities at school and with family. Miller's class had a very informal party. He had fun wearing his mickey mouse pilgrim hat.

No more big traveling for this momma so we spent the week in Athens with my family just reflecting on all that we have to be thankful for. Sorry no pictures.

Luke and I wrapped up November with a 2 night trip to Nashville. We had a great time resting, relaxing, and just spending time with each other. We were also able to knock out most of our Christmas shopping. This expectant Momma was VERY thankful for the extra help!!

We kicked off December and Christmas with a fun morning of decorating cookies with our MOMS group and then we delivered them to a local assisted living. What a blessing it was to see the smiles on the kids and residents.

After making yummy cookies and getting a good nap in we headed up to see the annual Christmas Parade. Miller LOVED every minute. The highlight of the parade was seeing all the firetrucks and eating cotton candy!

Notice the firetruck in his lap?!?! He would take his gloves off every time a firetruck came by and hold it up to show the fire men. It was super cute!! We had a blast and can't wait till next year!!

November Happenings

November was a BUSY month spent with family. You can see that we spent the first weekend in Auburn. The following weekend was spent celebrating Miller's THIRD birthday. SO HARD TO BELIEVE!! Miller celebrated with his class by taking "3" shaped cookies to school on Friday.

We began the real celebration with family for dinner at Cracker Barrel and then back to our house for cupcakes and presents. We asked for books only due to the overload of toys this time of year. He LOVED every book and read them over and over and over all weekend!! THANKS to everyone who made Miller's birthday SO special!!

WAR EAGLE!!

We spent the past 4 days (Thursday through Sunday) in Auburn. We were able to spend a LONG weekend with Aunt May May and lots of Auburn Friends. It is SO hard to believe that we have been out of school for 6+ years and have been living in Athens (not Auburn) for the past 3+ years. We had a blast taking Miller to his first game. It was a lot to take in. It was an extremely CHILLY and WINDY day. Luckily our seats were in direct sun and the wind was blocked. It was a perfect and FUN day!!

Walking from May May's place to the game. This is the same place I lived in while in school. It is also where Luke and I plus lots of friends started and ended each game....we were spoiled tailgaters. We always tailgated at my apartment with all the conveniences of being inside!! It was fun to take Miller on the same walk to the game that we had taken many times before. It brought back SO many memories.

Halloween FUN!!

Last week was FULL of Halloween FUN!! On Wednesday Miller's class celebrated Halloween with a simple party full of Pizza, Pumpkins, and Sweets.

On Saturday we volunteered at our Church's Trunk or Treat. Miller had NO interest in his Halloween Costume this year so we have very few pictures of him as a dinosaur. Miller also did not want to go Trunk or Treating. He sat with us the entire night and helped give out candy. He also is guilty of eating his fair share of nerds...this would explain the messy face. We had TONS of fun seeing all the costumes. I transformed the back of my Truck into a Silly Spider. After Trunk or Treating we headed to my parents house to Trick or Treat. This was Miller's first and only Trick or Treating experience. He had fun ringing the bell and getting the candy!!

On Sunday evening we headed to My parents Fall Festival. My Mom and Dad were in charge of grilling hot-dogs and hamburgers for the night and unfortunately my Dad woke up with Gout and was not able to walk so Luke ended up cooking for him. My sisters and Ben (Marybeth's boyfriend) joined me to help with Miller.

Today we visited Lyons Pumpkin Patch with Miller's Class. Aunt Addie and Luke were able to join us again this year. We also meet up with some good friends, Ashley (mom), Elisabeth, and Lance (baby brother...only 9 weeks old and he slept the entire time. Such a sweet baby!)

We are proud to announce we are expecting a baby GIRL at the end of January!! I know the first picture may seem a bit scary but I really like it because it looks like baby girl is smiling. She is healthy and very active. Can't wait to meet this little angel!!

Weekend with Family

We spent this past weekend in Brewton visiting Luke's family. Luke's parents own several acres of farm land and a big Green John Dear Tractor. Miller was in HEAVEN!! He loves anything with wheels, especially tractors. We had to visit the tractor several times. I think the pictures speak for themselves...

Along with spending lots of time on the tractor we enjoyed visiting with Luke's family. We even got to visit with Luke's extended family on Saturday at a reunion. I know his family was excited we were able to attend. Here are some fun family shots from this weekend...

Fourth of July Weekend

We enjoyed a relaxing holiday weekend at home. Miller spent Saturday with Aunt May May and Ben at the Farm. He got to feed the horses and drive a tractor and a truck.

Saturday evening after dinner we topped off the evening with watermelon, sprinklers, and fireworks.

Waiting on it to get good and dark!!

Monday night we camped out across from the high school to view the annual firework show (Sorry no pictures). Miller enjoyed the first 4 or 5 and then he was bored.

Oh well, we were making memories!! Happy Independence Day!!

Where did June go?!?! Part 3

Last weekend we took Miller to his first Movie. He loves "Buzz" so we knew he would LOVE Toy Story 3. Miller did great at the movie.

We also visited the Kiddie Carnival. Miller had so much fun. Of course it was tough to get a smile out of him but after every ride he would run to us and give us the biggest hugs. Then he would run to the next ride. We will defiantly be going back! Here are the pictures form last summer's trip.

Where did June go?!?! Part 2

The rest of our month was spent preparing for VBS. I was in charge of crafts for about 300 Elementary kids. We had a blast. Miller loved going to school everyday. I think he missed the structure of going to school. He would light up everyday we would walk down the hall to his class. Unfortunately, the only picture I have is this one...

Isn't he a cutie?!?! We were on our way out the door to our first day and he insisted on wearing my cowboy hat. I was so busy I did not take the time to take pictures of my awesome decorations. We turned our hall way into the Blazing Star Stables. It was so much fun. I had a great team and can't wait to do it again next summer!!

While I was preparing for VBS I found Miller "fixin" his car. Yes he is nakie!! It is the best way for him to potty on his own. He is getting pretty good but we have a way's to go. As long as he is not wearing anything he will not have any accidents but as soon as we put on underwear it is another story. I guess underwear, pull ups, and diapers feel about the same to him. We have been so busy that it has been hard to be consistent. It will come with time.

The weather has been H O T. We have spent lots of time in the water to cool off. Miller loves the sprinkler. His favorite thing to do is to step on the stream of water and say, "Where'd it go?"

We received an open invitation to use a friends pool anytime we want to. We took advantage of the pool this week, I foresee many more trips. FUN FUN!!

Where did June go?!?! Part 1

We have been SUPER busy!! I thought summer would bring on lazy days and lots of leisure time for doing what ever we wanted to. Boy was I WRONG!! We have been busy in a different sort of way. I will attempt to catch you up on the going on's in our house.

Memorial Day Weekend brought friends from South Alabama to visit. Ella (14 mo) and Miller (2 1/2) had fun swimming naked in the pool. They also enjoyed pushing each other around the back yard.

On Monday we visited family in Chattanooga, TN. We had a great time. We don't get to visit this side of the family much so we were trilled to get together. We even took MeMaw with us. She just celebrated her 87th birthday!! What an accomplishment!

We ate some of the YUMMIEST foods!! All thanks to my Cousins. It is funny how roles have switched. These two used to be the one's playing while the men reclining in the back ground were cooking.

Our next adventure worth noting was a trip to Auburn. Mom, Miller, and I visited Marybeth in Auburn for a girls plus Miller weekend. Lets just say it was a LONG weekend. It was EXTREMELY HOT and Miller did not sleep well away from home, so three days and two nights felt like twice that. We still had a good time and I have pictures that will last forever. Here are some pictures form our last visit in 2008.

Summer is in Full Swing!!

Miller finished school last Wednesday the 19th. His class had a little party which included a bounce house and riding toys. Miller and his class mates were all over the place so very few pictures turned out.

He has had a WONDERFUL first year of school. He has learned so much and I owe it to his teachers, Thanks Mrs. Misti and Mrs. Shannon. Miller had a BLAST and can't wait for next year!!

Since school has been out we have been spending LOTS of time outside in the water. Miller has had SO much fun.

This week is Potty Training week. I have put it off long enough. We have tried off and on this last school year without success. Miller has been tee-teeing in the potty since August. Now that it is warm and we are home for the summer, Miller is wearing nothing but a smile and using the potty on his own. Hopefully over the next month I can report we are fully trained but until then....

Fun weekend

This past weekend I participated in a E-women conference in Birmingham with a great group of ladies from Church. We enjoyed music by Charles Billingsley, Jeremy Camp, and Mark Schultz and were encouraged and challenged by Sheri Rose Shepherd , Michelle McKinney Hammond , Lysa Terkeurst , Karen Kingsbury, and Anita Renfroe.

Luke and Miller came down to Birmingham to visit with a old friend from Auburn. John's family had a big toy that Miller....and Luke....fell in LOVE with.

They also had a Beautiful house and Barn. Luke attempted a photo shoot but this was as good as it gets....

My parents and sister met us for dinner and we stayed in a hotel that had a indoor pool. Miller LOVED jumping in the pool to daddy....

On Sunday morning we went to the zoo. It was a perfect day for the Zoo. It was very overcast keeping it cool and it only rained once which was quite humorous. Luckily we didn't get too wet.

We had SO much fun and look forward to going back next spring once they open their new Africa Exhibit.

Toot my own horn! I have spent the morning making cupcakes for the AWANA awards on Sunday night. Miller LOVES Trains!! This past weekend Luke's parents visited town so we took Miller to the North Alabama Railroad Museum in Chase Alabama. He was a bit overwhelmed but loved all the "choo choo's". We did not stay long because it started to rain but we had a great time and look forward to visiting again and taking a ride on this train!

Egg Hunts

Friday the MOPS group I am a part of got together and had a Easter Egg hunt. While the eggs were being hid we enjoyed making a rainbow craft (ours is VERY abstract) and listened to the Easter Story told through Resurrection Eggs. Due to a very cold rainy day we had our hunt in a large activity room.

Miller had to open every egg before putting it into his basket. He loved all the candy and bubbles he found....

On Sunday Our Sunday School Class had a Lunch Social followed by a Egg Hunt. We had a BLAST. We are so Thankful the Weather held out. It was a WONDERFUL Lord's Day!!

Spring Break in Nashville

My mom, Sisters (Addie and Marybeth), Miller, and Myself spent 2 days in Nashville last week during Spring Break. We arrived at Lunch time on Wednesday and enjoyed a wonderful Lunch at The Aquarium Restaurant in Opry Mills. Miller LOVED all the fish.

Even though this was a girls shopping get away, we did a lot of activities just for Miller. Opry Mills has lots of kid friendly activities.

After shopping until we could drop we headed to our hotel to freshen up and then we headed to Cock of the Walk for dinner. After stuffing ourselves with lots of yummy food we headed back to the hotel to take advantage of the indoor pool. This was Miller's second time in a big pool and he was a little apprehensive at first but QUICKLY warmed up. He loved playing with his Aunts.

The next day we headed to the Opryland Hotel. We let Miller go when we got inside. He ran and ran and ran. I could not get him to stop long enough to take a decent picture. He loved the lush greenery and pathways that seemed to keep going.

We had a wonderful trip and can't wait to do it again!!

This month has FLOWN by!! I have a lot of catching up to do, so here goes....

This month has been a CRAZY Month.

We had SNOW on March 2nd.....

The sun came out on March 6th then disappeared until this week....

Since we were stuck inside Miller found ways to entertain himself...and me (this was completely unprovoked)....

Such a stinker... he is covering his eyes so I can't see him!!

We ate a couple of Oreo's (He only eats the cream center so I am not sure HOW he got it all over his face!)...

Last week was Spring Break and we spent the entire week with my Mom and Sisters. We even took a overnight trip to Nashville to do some shopping...but I will leave that to a post of its own.

This week we have been doing our best to get back into the swing of things after a busy Spring Break. On Monday it SNOWED AGAIN!! But nothing stuck....but it sure came down. Yesterday the Sun came out and we have been soaking up every ray we possibly can. I am SUPER excited about this Spring and look forward to MANY pretty days spent outside!!

Valentine Party!

On Wednesday Miller's class celebrated Valentines Day. A Volunteer from the Parents as Teachers Program visited Miller's class to help us as parents teach our kids on a daily basis. Miller's Teachers wanted to use this time to show the parents what the class has been doing recently. We started by making a Yummy Snack together. We made Hit the Trail Mix. It consisted of Equal parts Dry Cereal (we used Chocolate Cheerios), Raisins, Pretzels, and M&M candies. Miller enjoyed measuring the ingredients and pouring them together. We poured all the ingredients into a baggie and let the kids shake them to mix well. Once we assembled our Yummy snack, Miller demonstrated his new love for cutting and using scissors. He is rather good compared to his classmates. He probably gets his LOVE for crafting from his Momma!!

The Weather man completely missed this one! While I was getting Miller ready for school I heard a weird noise coming from outside. I was completely shocked to see it pouring sleet, which soon turned to Snow so I decided to keep Miller home from School. I am SO glad I did because we have had a blast playing.

Nashville Winter Wonderland

For Christmas, Luke surprised me with a Weekend for two get away to Nashville. We haven't gone on a vacation since Fall 2005 so it was well overdue. We started making reservations at the first of the month, some of which were nonrefundable so we were going no matter what. The beginning of last week I started keeping my eyes on the weather so I could plan accordingly. I was shocked to see SNOW and ICE on the forecast. Every day I checked the weather to see if the forecast had changed and every day it was the same.

Since our biggest expense was our Hotel and it was nonrefundable we decided we were going no matter what. After all, we wanted this weekend to be about resting and what better way to rest then to be snowed in at a hotel right?!?! We loaded up the 4 wheel drive and headed to Nashville on Friday Morning before the bulk of the storm hit. We started our vacation at Opry Mills Outlet Mall because our Hotel check in wasn't until 3. We enjoyed a WONDERFUL Lunch at the Aquarium Restaurant before hitting the outlets.

While the snow steadily fell we did a little shopping. I was able to snag Miller 15 articles of clothing for next winter from the Children's Place for $42.00!! Most of their winter clothing was marked down to $2.99 each. On top of these great prices I had a 15% off coupon. That makes each item around $2.49!! This was defiantly one of the highlights of my trip.

After checking into our hotel we started to make plans for the next couple of days. All our original plans were canceled due to the weather, but one of the few places not affected by the snow was the Opryland Hotel which was located about 1/4 a mile from our hotel. Due to our lack of options we made dinner reservations and off we went. I was surprised to find the hotel a GHOST TOWN!! We spent the rest of the day walking through the beautiful atrium's at the Opryland Hotel and enjoyed a wonderful meal at Ristorante Volare. After touring the entire hotel we decided we wanted to come back the following evening for Dinner.

Up until the time we went to the Opryland Hotel the weather was not that bad. Just a lot of snow and very little was sticking to the roads. After spending several hours touring the hotel and enjoying dinner, the scenery had changed. Snow was covering everything and sticking to the roads. Thank goodness for Valet parking at the hotel ,that was validated by our restaurant, otherwise we would have never found our vehicle in all the snow that fell while we were in the tropical atrium's. By Saturday Morning 4 inches of Snow had accumulated. On Saturday the tempts stayed below freezing all day and the snow turned to ice which made for dangerous roads and parking lots.

We did not take many pictures this weekend. We are not crazy about corny pictures of just one of us posing beside something, and everywhere we went was a bit of a ghost town so we didn't have many opportunities to have someone else take our pictures. Therefore very few pictures. We did take a couple pictures of the parking lot at our hotel. {I know that is a little Corny} Here is Luke's truck on Friday afternoon. A light dusting and very little on the pavement.

Here is a picture of the parking lot view from the 4th floor on Saturday morning. Everything was covered in Snow. The parking lots were ok at this point but as the day went on the snow began to change to ice.

Saturday morning was a LAZY one. We bummed around all morning watching TV and playing cards. We headed back to Opry Mills around 11:30 to eat lunch. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe and then we were hoping to catch a movie but the theater was closed so we decided to take a drive and ended up at Cool Springs for the afternoon. We were probably a little CRAZY for getting out. The roads were hit or miss. Some were very clean and some looked as if they had not seen a plow. After safely making it to Cool Springs we did a little shopping and headed back to Nashville.

By this time is was time for dinner so to the Opryland Hotel we went. Old Hickory Steakhouse was by far the BEST MEAL of the weekend!! Luke ordered a Cowboy Bone-In Rib Steak and I had the Pan Seared Georges Bank Diver Scallops with Foie Gras Pinot Noir Reduction and we shared some Loaded Red Bliss Smashed Potatoes and Broccolini with Hot Bacon Vinaigrette. The waitress treated us to some of the best cheese cake ever due to the fact that we braved the weather to dine with her.

We hit the road soon after breakfast on Sunday so we could take our time traveling and be able to make it home by Lunch. We meet my parents and Miller for Lunch. Miller was SO HAPPY to see us. He kept leaning over to give us loving while we were eating Lunch. After Lunch we headed home to let Miller play in the snow that had accumulated in the back of Luke's Truck. Miller had a blast playing in the nearly 4 inches of snow.

The Snow has been gone for several days but I did not want you to miss some of these fun pictures. Aunt MayMay spent the night with us on Thursday so she could spent lots of time with Miller before she headed back to Auburn on Saturday.

We started the day by making a YUMMY Snow Man.

Then we headed outside. It was C O L D!!!

17 degrees to be exact!

Poor Kaylee did not get to join us but that did not stop her from trying to squeeze under the fence to get to us.

We had LOTS of FUN with Aunt MayMay. We made Snow Angels on our flat bed trailer,

Went on a little walk in the woods beside our house,

Played with our Dump Truck,

And just had fun being a KID!!

Snow Day!!

As most of you know most of North Alabama shut down today due to snow. It has been snowing off and on all day resulting in a pretty heavy dusting. We have gone out to play in the snow twice today. The first was right before Lunch and Miller was less then impressed so we headed in after about 5 minutes. After a couple of hours the snow really seemed to be coming down so we bundled up and headed out again. Miller was in awe. He did not know what to think of it. He had the most fun scooping up the snow off the walkway and throwing it into the flowerbed.

Favorite thing to do!!

Earlier this week we began preparing for snow by making our own snowflakes in hopes that we would see the real thing.

We began by cutting out snowflakes. I simply folded white and light blue construction paper in half twice and then folded it into a triangle making sure my folded edges were against each other. Then I went to town cutting. When I was done cutting, I opened them up to reveal BEAUTIFUL and unique snowflakes. Then it was time for embellishments. I began by letting Miller cover the entire snowflake with glue. Look at that concentration....he gets it from his MOM!

Then he sprinkled sugar over the glue to add a little sparkle to our flakes.

We hung ours from the curtain rod in our breakfast area.

Miller LOVES them and I think they are the perfect addition to the kitchen.

We have had such a great Christmas and New Year break that it has been hard to return to reality. I have attempted to update pictures with a detailed rundown of our Christmas festivities but I just can't find the motivation. Oh, so much has happened {including taking HUNDREDS of pictures} since I last posted. This year we did our best to experience Christmas to the fullest. We want the Christmas Season to be about making memories and celebrating Christ's birth with those we love the most. Miller is at such a great age, we LOVED experiencing Christmas through his tender eyes.

We spent Christmas day at home. We started with presents from each other. Miller really got into it, he opened his gifts first and then helped Luke and I open ours. My family joined us for Brunch and then we lounged around all day playing cards and eating left overs. Here is a glimpse into our day...

On Saturday we visited with Luke's family in Clanton. After a fun filled Lunch Luke's parents followed us back to Athens to spend a couple of days. They don't get to visit much so we made the most of our time together. Miller enjoyed showing them all his new toys. On Sunday my family joined us for a FABULOUSLY DELICIOUS {if I may say so myself} combined family Christmas dinner. Here is another glimpse...

We have had such a great time with family this Christmas and we look forward to what 2010 has in store for us!!

My Mom's class has recently read and watched the polar express. To wrap up the book the children all dressed in their PJ's and the Lions Club took the kids on a train ride. Of course Miller was VERY overwhelmed but I think he really enjoyed it.

After a C O L D train ride we headed inside to read! The Children brought blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals and were allowed to lounge around and read until Lunch. Some of the students were taking AR test and Miller thought he needed to also.

We enjoyed a YUMMY hamburger and fries with baked apples and then it was time to head home. To say my Mom's class was excited about Christmas would be a understatement! The excitement was a little too much for Miller so we headed home before they enjoyed some Hot Chocolate and cookies.

That wraps up our BUSY week! Only ONE more week till CHRISTmas day!!

Full Swing!! (part two)

Last week I took pictures of Miller's class for Christmas frames that we gave each student at the Christmas Party! On Monday their class made homemade play-doe and used rolling pens and cookie cutters to make ornaments. Since I was taking pictures for the frames I decided to stay and help his class make ornaments. We had a great time and I was able to capture some great pictures of his classmates.

We began the Christmas party activities with Music. Miller's class LOVES playing instruments. It was fun to see them in action.

After a very quite Lunch we headed outside for a snow ball hunt.
It sure was C O L D!! They loved getting to go outside.

After we found all the Snowballs they enjoyed playing. Due to bad weather they have not been able to play on the playground in several weeks so today was a real treat!

Mrs. Misti read them several books while we prepared to celebrate Jesus' birthday with juice and cookies!

Full Swing!! (part one)

CHRISTmas is in FULL swing at our house. This week we have made a Gingerbread house, Gone to Botanical Gardens to view Galaxy of Lights, had Miller's Christmas party, and went on a train ride. WHEW!!! What a great time we have had but I have to be honest I am looking forward to staying in on this cold rainy day to catch up on some blogging and a little housework!

We began the week of Christmas activities by going to the Botanical Gardens to view Galaxy of Lights. Miller LOVED all the lights!! Actually we all really enjoyed the lights. We went with my parents and sisters. It will defiantly be a yearly tradition. It was the PERFECT night!! The temps were in the low 70's- high 60's so we were able to leave the windows open. Miller's favorite part of the light tour was hanging out the sun roof.

On Tuesday my Sister helped my Mom's first grade class make Gingerbread houses. She brought the left overs to our house to help Miller make his very first Gingerbread house too. It was very simply to construct. She took a small milk carton and attached graham crackers to the carton using icing. Once the house was constructed they used icing to attach candies until they had achieved the look they were after. At first this is all Miller wanted to do....

Then he realized it was fun to help decorate.

This morning we woke up to a blanket of white. Since this is likely to be the only snow of the season we went out early to enjoy it before it melted.

We are so blessed to have been able to celebrate Miller's Second Birthday with Family this past Saturday.

The theme was BALLOONS!! Miller lit up when he saw my sisters walking up with 24 balloons. I wish I could have seen his face, I was in the other room and could hear his excitement. We had a wonderful meal together followed by lots of presents.

Of course he had to play with each present right then.

Then it was time for the highlight of the party...C A K E!!

Miller had his own cake. He was more interested in the balloon shaped candles coming out of it than anything. He thought they were suckers so we had to give a real sucker just so he would cooperate. He picked at the cake a little but was not interested in digging in. Luke had to force him to dig in but all he wanted was to wash his hands.

Then it was on to the family cake. My sister found the idea on a blog she regularly stalks {found here}. It was not a hard cake to make but I will warn you it was very time consuming. It took me 3 days from start to finish, but I was extremely satisfied with the results.

We had a GREAT time with family and can't wait to celebrate many, many more!

Halloween!!

We started Halloween day by carving pumpkins. It was Luke and Miller's first pumpkin carving experience. Miller was very curious and even helped clean out the pumpkin.

After carving Pumpkins, we ran some errands, had a long nap, and then it was off to meet Me Me and Grandpa Don for Trunk or Treat at their church. Miller was VERY overwhelmed by everything he saw. His expression did not change much the whole time we were there.

At the first car Miller wanted to immediately eat his candy and we had to explain that he needed to leave it in his bucket and move on to the next car because he was going to get more. It did not take long for Miller to figure out what was going on. Before we knew it he was pulling us to the next car instead of us pulling him. It was TOO funny. His favorite part was getting to pick his own candy!!

Some people really went all out and dressed their animals up to match the theme of their vehicle. Of course Miller could not move on to the next car without giving them some attention! He LOVES ANIMALS!!

Miller was able to add to his costume at one of the vehicles. One family did not give out candy but painted faces. Miller was very apprehensive as you can tell but I think it made him even cuter.

After filling our bucket we met up with Grandpa Don who was giving away popcorn and then headed inside for some games.

Once Miller was done he loaded himself up in his car as to say let's go. So we went to grab a bite to eat and then headed home to light our pumpkin and greet any trick or treaters that ventured down our way...which none did.

We had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN and hope you did too!!

PARTY TIME!!!

Wednesday Miller's Preschool class celebrated Halloween with a day full of activities. Miller was a little reluctant to wear his costume but soon got used to it and did not want to take it off. I think he makes the cutest lion ever!!

The hood did not stay on long, but I still think he is just TOO CUTE!!

Ashley, Elisabeth's mom and I were in charge of the extra activities for the day.
We began the festivities with 2 cute crafts...

And a Bean Bag toss game...

After lots of fun with the bean bag game we read them 3 Fall books and then it was time for LUNCH!
One of their favorite times of the day.

After a quick bite of Chick-Fil-A it was time for a Pumpkin Hunt. We hid some baby pumpkins on the playground and the little one's hunted for them. It was a big hit. I was unsure if they would understand what was going on, Miller did not understand what a Easter Egg Hunt was last Spring so I was sure he would not know what to do. To my surprise all the kids ran after the pumpkins as soon as we opened the gate!!

I love this age, so innocent, the kids were proudly putting pumpkins in each others buckets. Miller really has a great class with great teachers!!
After LOTS of fun outside hunting for pumpkins we headed inside to end the day with Cupcakes. I think the pictures speak for themselves...YUMMY!!

We left with a bucket of goodies including this cute frame...

Punkin Patch

Wednesday morning Aunt Addie, Luke, and I took Miller on his first field trip to Lyon's Pumpkin Patch. We had a blast!!

We began with a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch.

At first, Miller was a little overwhelmed by all the pumpkins....do you blame him?!?!

Then he found the perfect one...

Punkin Pickin is hard work, time for a break!!

After we found the perfect Pumpkins, we loaded up and headed back to the main farm for the corn maze.
We had a GREAT time even though we got SUPER LOST!!!! I am SO glad we grabbed this wagon. Miller just chilled out the whole ride.... he would not have lasted very long walking!!

After the corn maze Miller and Luke had fun playing in the covered corn kernel box....like a sand box but full of corn kernels. They had a blast!!

After a quick bounce in the large pumpkin bounce house with Aunt Addie...

Miller helped Daddy push our wagon to the petting zoo...

Miller LOVED the animals!! His favorite part was feeding the Sheep. He fed him about 20 times before we had to bribe him to leave. After visiting the pets inside we visited with a couple outside. They were not as willing to be fed or petted but Miller enjoyed seeing them all.

After petting and feeding all the animals we headed inside to learn where pumpkins come from during story time.

Then it was time for Lunch and Free play!!! We met up with Miller's classmate and best friend, Elisabeth and her Mother Ashley. The kids (and Aunt Addie) had a blast on the Inflatables...

Then it was time for the BIG SLIDE!! Check it out (even Aunt Addie and Mrs. Ashley had fun, but they may never be the same!!)...

They LOVED the big slide so much that we took them over to a similar slide that was smaller so they could go down by themselves...

Then we showed Elisabeth how to play in the Corn Kernel Box....

Lastly, we played on a little hay mound that had a slide, a place for the little one's to jump, and a tube for them to crawl through...

Is there something on my head?!?!

It is really starting to look and feel like Fall. Today it was in the low 50's all day and it is supposed to be even cooler tomorrow. We took advantage of the crisp day to pull out some of Miller's Fall wardrobe for a quick photo shoot.

School Days

Yesterday I Subbed in Miller's class. It made for a LONG morning but I enjoyed watching Miller interact with his classmates. We started the day with a BIG CHEESE!!

And then some playtime.

Some NICE...

Some NOT SO NICE!! We are learning to SHARE!

Then it was time for FALL PICTURES. This explains the multiple outfits on all the kids. Miller loves the Bye Bye Buggie even though he is frowning. They all did so well and were rewarded with suckers for the ride back to our rooms.

Then it was time for SNACK!!

Then more PLAY TIME!!

Then Puzzle and Book Time. The kids started a band using the puzzle pieces as noise makers. They thought it was TOO funny beating the pieces together.

Then it was Lunch and Bible Study/ Coloring time. I was unable to take any pictures because one of the children would NOT let me put them down.

Overall it was a great day. Even though it was a LONG day for me I enjoyed watching Miller and his classmates play and interact. He has a great class and I can't wait to see what this year has in store.

On Monday we enjoyed a free Chick fil a sandwich. Miller had so much fun playing in the play center. He explored everything but the slide. He has never made it past the stairs so I was thrilled to see him having so much fun.

We are looking forward to getting lots of use out of his little Auburn jersey. My mom bought it for him before he was born so we are thrilled to be able to wear it this fall.

Labor Day Weekend Recap...

Last weekend Aunt Maybay came home for the weekend and we enjoyed spending lots of time with her. On Sunday we joined my Parent's Church at the park for a cookout. Miller had a great time playing with all the boys and girls but especially Aunt Maybay.

Family Lunch

Today we visited with my Mom's family in Florence, AL. We had a wonderful Lunch followed by some play time in the back yard. It was a beautiful day and Miller had a great time. We were the first to arrive so we pulled out the camera and Miller was a real Ham. He would say cheese and squint his face for most pictures.

Unfortunately Miller was not feeling well (just teething crud) and most of our pictures turned out like this...

He did perk up when Aunt Addie took him on a ride down the zip line. My grandparents have a GREAT back yard with one of the best play grounds I have seen around. We are trying to talk Papa Don into building one in his back yard...Wink, Wink!!

Before we had to leave we took a group picture. We had a great time and can't wait to get together again soon. Hopefully Miller will be in a better mood.

A GREAT First Day!

Miller had a GREAT First Day of Preschool. When I picked him up he was all SMILES. He is part of a small and sweet class with a GREAT teacher. They ate, played, and learned about Noah and the ark. He came home with some sweet artwork and notes. I just LOVE hand prints and foot prints!! After all they are only this size once!

It did not take him long to crash once home. We took the front of Miller's crib off this weekend. It has been a very easy transition to a Toddler bed. We are so proud of our BIG BOY. By the look of this picture he is pretty proud too.

School Time

Monday evening was Preschool Open house and we were able to meet Miller's teacher and classmates. One of my good friends is teaching Miller's class and he has some sweat friends from Sunday School in his class as well.

He had no trouble making himself at home with all the toys.

He even enjoyed a silly game of peek a boo.

This Morning we were ready early so I tried to take some first day photo's. He is ready to go...notice the new boo boo's?!?! Miller tripped last night and bumped his nose on a wooden toy box. Not too sure where the scratch on his cheek came from. Pretty sure he did it to himself. The first thing his teacher, Mrs. Misti, said when we walked in was "Wow, you got another bump on your face!!" I guess he has a reputation for falling.

He did not care for wearing his back pack. Hopefully with time it will grow on him.

Once at school he jumped right in there and started playing with the trucks.

I have been getting updates through facebook and it looks like Miller and his class are having a great time.

Now that School is back in session I have some catching up to do so stay tuned!!

This week's weather has been so pleasant that my Sister's and I decided to take Miller to the park on Tuesday. We had so much fun!! Thanks Aunt Addie and Marybeth for playing with me!!

The Last couple of days...

have been very busy! On Thursday I was getting ready to host a coupon swap/ playdate when Miller got really quite. I knew he was into something so I started searching and this is what I found...

You can tell where he tried to put it back. Luckily this happened in the master bathroom so I just closed the door and continued to get things together.

The Mom's had a great time organizing, cleaning out, and swapping coupons while the kids had fun playing. They all joined in for a tea party...

I think Miller just wanted the pretzels.

and then enjoyed watching Wall-E. One of our favorites around here.

On Friday evening Miller took a NASTY fall. The whole driveway shook. He only cried for a minute and went on to play with the broom which assured us he was fine.

On Saturday we took advantage of the beautiful weather outside. But before we did Miller fell and clipped his upper eyelid on the table leg. He is the definition of T O D D L E R. I guess this is just the beginning of MANY bumps and bruises.

He didn't let his injuries slow him down. He had SO much fun running around.

and getting DIRTY!! He is ALL BOY!

Kiddie Carival

Saturday evening we went to the Kiddie Carnival. If you live in Athens this is a great cheap outing that your kids will love. I have vivid memories of my parents taking me and my sisters each Summer. Miller did not know what to think of all the people. I think he was a little overwhelmed because we could not get him to smile for a single picture. I still think he had a good time and we can't wait to take him next year when he is a little older. Aunt Maybay was a real trooper and rode most of the rides with him.

We began with the cars. They were just the right size for him and he had fun driving around and around.

Then he rode the Carousel.

Next Aunt Maybay and Miller rode the train.

Then they rode the Umbrella Swings.

Due to all the excitement Miller decided he needed a break.

After his break he rode the Fighter planes.

We had a couple of tickets left so we thought we would ride the cars one more time but Miller had other plans. After a couple times around this he had a melt down.

The operators were kind enough to stop the ride so he could get off. By this time it was 7:45... 15 minutes past his bedtime. We decided to call it a night only after sharing some dippin dots with Daddy.

...Stings that is!! Miller was stung by a huge ugly Carpenter bee on Thursday and then was stung by a huge ugly Wasp on Friday. Miller was such a trooper. We didn't even know the bee stung him until 20 minutes later when we noticed a bump where the bee had hit him. I did not take a picture of it because it was just a little bump. I did take a picture of the nasty wasp sting. Miller cried for a couple of seconds with this one and I don't blame him! I know it HURT!!

Has it really been a month since I updated our family blog?!?!

A lot has happened in the past month so I will attempt to catch up. Here goes...

I left you guys hanging on July 7th. I spent the week of June 8-12 finalizing my plans for VBS which was June 15-19. We had a great time. I worked with some amazing people teaching crafts to about 300 K-4th graders.

This was Miller's 2nd VBS. I was not able to take any pictures of him enjoying his class but I am confident he had a blast. He made this sweet footprint tile that I will always cherish.

Which leads me to Father's day (June 21st). We enjoyed a quite weekend at home. We joined my parents for Lunch after Church for a steak Lunch. My sister and Miller made this fun hand print artwork that will go nicely with the footprint tile Miller made in VBS.

It will also go nicely with My mother's day gift from Miller.

Along with all the VBS activities Miller turned 19 Months Old.

He is such a ball of energy. He has transitioned from two naps down to one a day (This is one reason for my absence from the blog world.) Miller doesn't walk anymore he RUNS!! EVERYWHERE!! He is still a sweet baby but is starting so show signs of rebellion. We really have to keep an eye on him because you NEVER know what he might get into.

Example...Mommy's Mascara!! At least it came off very easily!

Miller is beginning to climb. He can climb up onto most things these days. We went to Chick-Fil-A this week with some good friends. Miller had the MOST fun climbing in the play center. He proudly waved at me from the top. I wish I had carried my camera to capture his excitement, maybe next time!!

Miller is talking more and more every day. He really seems to understand what we are saying even though we can't understand what he is saying most of the time. Some words he can say clearly are... shoe, juice, dada, ball, where'd it go?, he can also count to 3 in his own way and we know what he is saying every time.

Miller LOVES it outside. We have spent a lot of time in the back yard these last couple of weeks enjoying his swimming pool and the water hose.

This weekend we spent Independence Day at home. We spent the morning doing chores and odd jobs around the house preparing to cook wings for dinner with family. Last minute we decided to take Miller to see the local firework show. After his bath we loaded up and headed up the street to enjoy the show. We parked at a parking lot by a grassy area about a mile from the actual festivities. I was worried about it being to crowded or loud for Miller. After running around our little grassy spot for about an hour the show began. By this time Miller was on his last wind and was ready to crash. He still seemed to enjoy the fireworks but I think he would have rather been sound asleep in his crib.

We continued our celebration on Sunday night with My parents at their church. Can you tell what Miller enjoyed for Dinner?!?!

He LOVES Cheese curls!!

We have spent this week helping my Mom make curtains for her Dining Room and My Sister make curtains for her Living room. I thought things would slow down once Summer began but I was wrong... We just got busier with different things.

Water Fun!!

Yesterday was just one of those days. Miller was extremely whiny and needed my undivided attention. I had had enough and decided to do something new so I blew up Miller's pool. It was about 4:30 and the back yard was full shade. It made for cool water but Miller had a blast! He did not care too much for the pool but LOVED playing with the hose.

He tolerated standing in the pool but as soon as I sat him in it this is what happened...

This morning my Mom brought us Lunch and stayed to play with Miller for a while. When outside He was very interested in the pool so we did what any parent would do on a HOT June day...we stripped him down and put him in. He really did enjoy it. We are in for some fun times in the water this Summer!!

18 Months

It is hard to believe that this little guy turned 18 months old this month. This facial expression is my favorite. He is a silly, inquisitive, lovable little boy who LOVES books, music, and dancing. He loves to explore and has begun climbing…something I did not rush. He is ALL over the place and loves to go outside and have the freedom to RUN!! When outside, Miller loves to play with bubbles and to ride his scooter. With all the rain we have had he has learned to splash in puddles, and LOVES it!

More pictures coming soon. Tonight my little Sister is graduating from High School. We are so Proud of her and can't wait till we can celebrate her graduation from Auburn. WAR EAGLE!!

Yesterday, Luke went to play golf. Miller and I decided to walk across the street to watch him at hole 2. Miller loves it outside so needless to say he had a good time. He can't wait until he is big enough to play too.
